Committed to improving the health, dignity and social well-being of persons affected by leprosy and other communicable diseases, with a special focus on vulnerable and underserved communities.
"Leprosy elimination is not merely a public health goal—it is a moral imperative. Every person affected by leprosy deserves timely diagnosis, quality treatment, freedom from disability, and the opportunity to live with dignity and hope. Together, let us ensure that no person is left behind."
The challenge remains urgent. India continues to report the highest number of new leprosy cases in the world. Every year, thousands of children, women and men are diagnosed with the disease. Many continue to face delayed diagnosis, disability, stigma, loss of livelihood and social exclusion.
For more than four decades, ALERT INDIA has worked alongside communities, government health systems, healthcare professionals and supporters to ensure that leprosy is detected early, treated promptly and prevented from causing disability and lifelong hardship.
